“Now Is the Time for All Good Folks to Come to the Aid of Their Country!”
Dear Friends in Messiah:
We greet you in the Name of our Lord and Savior, Messiah Jesus of Nazareth! Alma and I continue to lift you up in prayer, so that God pours Himself out on you, and continues what He began in the United States! Praise the Lord at all times!
“In the same way, when you have done everything required of you, you should say, ‘We
are servants and deserve no special praise. We have only done our duty.’” (Luke 17:10)
We are so thankful to you because you have allowed us to send this to you, and in a way of speaking, our paths cross once a month. You are very important to us, and with your intercession in our lives, we feel that we can continue to obey God in all things.
We have been praying considerably about what happens this month. The election that is upcoming is so important to what the future holds in the United States. We are at war with the powers of darkness and now is not the time for us to relax and separate ourselves from the political arena. I am not telling you WHO to vote for, but I am telling you to refuse to sit at home and leave it to others. There is a lie widely believed among Believers, and that is that Christians should not be involved in politics. My Jewish Grandfather used to say, “My boy, there are two things we don’t discuss, and that is religion and politics”. I responded to him, “Papa, while you World War 2 guys are not discussing Jesus and politics, you have made us all in danger of losing the United States!” The church must be involved in the vote, and the government must not be shut off from Christian opinion. In one State that I frequent, in a recent election the wrong candidates won by a landslide, and it was reported that only 6% of Christians and Jews voted! That is disgraceful! It is our duty, and if just half of us voted, we would win across the board. Someone told me in a church once, “Mark, politics is not supposed to be discussed here.” I told him to show me in the law or in the Bible and I will do it, but it’s not there. I would not tell anyone who to vote for unless they asked me, but I will tell you, Believer, that you MUST vote. We are as responsible for what we don’t say as we are for what we do say. I was attacked by someone verbally once and I was going to ignore it, but two lawyers on my Board told me almost at once that legally, no response means that it is true. We must speak out in the voting booth.
Alma and I have kept our Texas residence due to certain protections under the law for 501c3’s, and since we are on the road preaching more than half the time, we are allowed to do that. We thought about what we are telling you about the vote and we decided that we were going to drive the 785 miles, one way, to Gun Barrel City to do our duty, (like the above Scripture says). That represents 1570 miles driven to vote! God sees what we do to obey His Word, and the Bible says that it is thankworthy to Him especially when we endure hardship to do so. We also decided that we were going to do it to sow a seed for His Will to be done in the election. This is one of the most important elections in history, and a wrong outcome not only could represent a looming disaster, but it will be a disaster that we have to lay at the feet of Christians.
In ancient Israel, the people had very little to say about who was to be king, but they did have a lot to say about their personal behavior. If you study the life of good King Josiah of Judah, he removed all the pagan gods and witches from the land, but the people did not change! Josiah died and the people immediately went back to their old ways. Judgment comes on any nation or people because of their practices. That seems rather obvious, but I have been teaching Revelation from a Hebraic Coine Greek approach, and it is amazing how the judgements all come in response to what people are doing, what they have done, and how they refuse to change. Throughout Revelation after a judgment comes, it says the people, “…cursed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, but they refused to repent of what they had done.” Revelation 16:10. It is surprising to me that even though I have always thought that if people take the mark of the beast, God will not forgive them, but the Bible shows that God still is trying to get people to get right, even at that late date. Obviously taking the mark of the beast does something to the human psyche that makes it hard if not impossible to change, even in the face of impending doom. At that time, God has shown Himself to them, and they still won’t listen.
The jest of what I am trying to say is this: God plans on changing the United States and the world, but if we stay asleep or lazy, or whatever causes the majority of us to not do our duty before God and the Constitution, it will be very difficult to hold on to the freedom we all have. Check the Scripture, God is not as much interested in our comfort as we are. Our comfort is up to us, and allowing unsavory elements to get into power will result in many lost freedoms.
Please heed my warnings. Take the few minutes off out of your busy schedule and go to the nearest polling place and cast your ballot. Before you do, ask the Holy Spirit in Jesus’ Name to guide you. Jesus lives inside of us and what Alma, and I say is that when we go in the voting booth, Jesus goes with us into that booth. He casts His vote! We allow Him to remain Lord of the United States and Texas. Listen to His Voice. Hear the voices of the founding fathers speaking across the ages. They are saying to us, “We gave you everything you need to protect freedom and to raise a healthy and sane family. It is up to you. If you lose it, that is on you, not on us, because with God’s help, we bled to create it. It is up to you to maintain it, and it is as simple as casting your vote”. Please remember to pray for us as we continue down our long highway for Jesus. He has given us the freedom to do so, and we will follow Him with His precious help!
